Are you working from the heart or are you chasing the money?
When joined my first home based business 6 years ago, I was working from the heart… I was using and promoting a natural skin care line that I felt was ethical and healthy. But something happened a few years down the road and I made my biggest business mistake ever.
Althougth my business was growing slowly… I got impatient. I wanted to see bigger paychecks and ultimately forgot the most important thing about network marketing: it’s a marathon, not a sprint.
The thing I have always loved about network marketing is simplicity of it. The bottom line is… ‘to find something you believe in, use it yourself, and then tell others.‘ To me, it’s the simplest, no-brainer way to make a side income in the world.
But more times than not, people (like me) forget the long term goals and start chasing the money instead of just being consistant. If you want to have success in network marketing you MUST commit to something you believe in for the long run, no matter how bumpy the course may be.
If you are working from your heart (meaning using a product you believe in and telling people about it) there is no way you can fail in mlm. No way. The reason 98% of network marketers fail is that they quit after a few months. They don’t see any money and they obviously don’t believe in the products enough to keep ordering.
For me it was around the 3 year mark that I ‘lost my vision’. I started to look at other businesses and I become unfocused. The good news is that I NEEDED to do that to realize my mistakes. (oddly enough… I DID love the products enough to keep ordering them… I just stopped the ‘talking’ part… duh!)
So after a few years of comparing compensation plans, talking to leaders, comparing products, and learning how to use the internet to get leads… I am happy to say that I have now gone back to working from the heart. I am now using and promoting something that I believe in and that is helping thousands of people look and feel their best… including me.
Isn’t that what it’s all about? I mean, everyone wants to look and feel their best. When you look and feel your best… you shine. And that is what I feel strongly about. Helping people shine.
The fact that the company will send you a check for sharing something you believe in is just a perk. For me, the purpose of my business is to help people be their best. I have stopped thinking about the money because building any home based business really is a long term thing.
I can’t believe that 6 years have flown by since I started my first network marketing company. And even harder to believe is that it took me this long to get back to working from the heart and to finding my business ‘home’.
But it’s all good… because I have learned so much over the past few years about what is really important in life as well as business, as well as some pretty awesome ways to use the internet to reach people… that it was worth the detour.
So if you are struggling in your home based business… ask yourself if you are working from the heart. And if you are, then keep going. Consistency and perseverance WILL pay off down the road.
The bottom line is that if you are working from the heart, you believe in what you do, and you stick with it no matter what, then you will have MLM Success as well as a fulfilling and prosperous life.
